Cartaz de propaganda política "Triumph of Christianity", 1923, União Soviética / Atual Rússia

Propaganda

Texto:

As an Orthodox Christian and as a historian, I appreciate this image - it portrays the suffering of the people under the Tsarist' reign who supported their churches some of which were enriching themselves.

Sometimes those who are shallow minded, suffer in their ignorance and lack of critical thinking skills. But we are given eyes to see and minds to think - some do not use them - nevertheless it is sad to see such exploited. The Bolsheviks wanted to show the people what was happening.

Some Orthodox Churches and their priests during the Revolution accumulated riches while people were literally starving or suffering greatly. The people did not know until the Bolsheviks raided their houses and put the riches on display in the town squares.

The ignorant, uneducated, and simple-minded are often exploited by those using the name of God. However, I believe such will reap the wrath of God, for God is not mocked. God will look at the hearts of all.

Jesus Christ is freedom - not men who say you should give them money to enter Heaven or to be blessed - that is not the message of Christ.

Anyhow, the image is appropriate to 1923 Soviet Union displaying a representation of the sad exploitation which had taken place and which the Bolsheviks exposed.

Then, as now, there will always be exploiters using religion to enrich themselves...just as there will always be true teachers of God as well who selflessly give.

God looks at your heart and behavior. In Christ there is freedom - no middleman necessary. Texto de Christine Lynn.
