Workers remained on the job during the day but were sent to the sanatorium in the evenings for therapies and other treatments, as part of workplace health programs at large enterprises.

The word sanatorium in russian is close to the word resort or spa in english.

Both terms in english and in russian have the same origin in latin, sanare, which means to heal. At the end, both concepts make sense under that meaning, with different conotations.
