Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina 1976, Itália

Fotografia

Introduced at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari 308 GTB combined dramatic Pininfarina styling with a sophisticated mid-engine chassis and a 2.9-liter quad-cam V-8 rated at 240 hp. Early examples featured lightweight fiberglass bodywork, known as vetroresina in Italian.

One of 712 fiberglass-bodied examples produced, this 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina was delivered new in Italy and remains finished in its original color combination of Nero (Black) over a tan leather interior with black inserts and dashboard. It retains the desirable dry sump lubrication system, singleexit exhaust, and lighter-weight specification unique to early European-delivery examples. For a period, the Ferrari resided in a noted Long Island collection alongside a Lamborghini Miura. More recently, it has formed part of a significant East Coast Ferrari collection, where it benefited from careful maintenance, including a rebuild of its engine and gearbox by Greg Ford of Ford Classic Car in Virginia.

Produced through June 1977, before Ferrari adopted steel-body construction, the Vetroresina models represent the lightest and most desirable version of the original 308 GTB. Combining rarity, sought-after European-market specifications, and long-term collector ownership, this well-preserved example is offered with its factory tool kit and stands among the most coveted variants of Ferrari’s landmark mid-engine V-8 berlinetta.
