Maserati Shamal 1991, Itália

Fotografia

One of approximately 369 built. 3,217 CC Twin-turbocharged DOHC V-8 engine. 326 BHP at 6,000 RPM. 6-speed ZF manual gearbox.

Introduced in 1989 as Maserati’s flagship performance GT, the Shamal represented the pinnacle of the marque under De Tomaso ownership. According to correspondence from Maserati Archivio Storico, this handsome example was originally manufactured in October 1991 and sold to its first owner by an official Maserati dealer in Germany, finished in Dazzling Black with a Light Gray leather interior. This refined color combination highlights the understated elegance of its design, and this Maserati has been sparingly used and collector owned. Accompanied by manuals period literature, and service records, the Shamal showed just 29,844 km when catalogued. Most recently, the consignor – a fastidious Italian car collector with an eye for perfection and correctness – had the Maserati detailed by Quality Cars S.r.l. near Venice, Italy, bringing its appearance to an even higher level.

Regarded today as one of the most distinctive Maserati GTs of the last half-century, the Shamal combines rarity, iconic design, and ample turbocharged performance. Examples of this quality, specification, and mileage are increasingly hard to find, and this Shamal would be a compelling addition to any collection of important modern Italian performance cars.
